Sewing a Bucket hat with a free pattern
Today, I want to share with you a project that I made recently which is very useful for the summer: a hat! This hat is easy to make, requires little fabric and I found a great free pattern.
I have been wanting to sew a hat for a long time because I think it is a great little project to do. I had a lot of fun sewing this project and I ended up spending nothing if you don’t count the thread. This doesn’t happen often 🙂
I used an old advertising apron that we had at home for this hat. I love the colour and texture of this fabric and I don’t think I could have found a fabric as good as this one in a fabric store, or at least not for free.
The pattern has 8 different sizes ranging from 1-2 years old to adult XL so, with this pattern, you can make hats for everyone! The pattern has lots of illustrations and is easy to understand. And, as I said in the introduction, this pattern is free! You can find the pattern HERE.

I made the size adult S and made no ajustement to the pattern. If I have to do this pattern again, I would shorten the brim to give it more of the bucket hat look.
I used:
- The Bucket Hat pattern from Mood Fabrics
- An old apron for the fabric
Taking picture of this hat was really hard but here are a few pictures:
