Knitting a summer top – The Summer Soufflé
Hello! I haven’t posted in a while because I have been so busy with school but, today, I wanted to share my most recent knitting project: The Summer Soufflé from Penrose Knits!
A little over a month ago, I saw a post on Instagram from Penrose Knits calling for testknitters. As soon as I saw it, I immediately applied. A few days later, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was accepted and that I was going to be one of the testers for this awesome pattern. The next weekend, I went to buy yarn and I, immediately, started knitting.
The pattern is very well made; it has 12 different sizes and 2 different gauges: one that is for 20 stitches and the other one for 22 stitches. In this way, you have more choices in the yarn you want to use.
I chose King Cole Bamboo Cotton DK yarn, it’s a cotton and bamboo blend. I really like this yarn, it’s really soft. The bamboo gives a lot of drape to the fabric.
The pattern is awesome, I love the little ruffle, and the shape is really nice. The ruffle is very simple to do, it just takes a very long time since there are A LOT of stitches!
Here are the details:

I used the German twisted cast on to cast on my stitches and to bind off, I used Jeny’s Suprisingly Strechy Bind off.
I made size 1 with the 22 stitches gauge. I made one little adjustment to the sleeve because I was scared it was going to be too small. Instead of picking up one stitch in the gap, between the sleeve and the underarm stitches, I picked up 2 stitches. I am really happy about the fit of the sleeve.
I used:
- The Summer Souffle pattern from Penrose Knits
- King Cole Bamboo Cotton DK
- Knitting needles in the size 4mm et 3,5mm
